Australian Science festival cancelled

It’s disappointing that this year’s Australian Science Festival in Canberra has been cancelled. The events organisers and the local government have differing opinions for why it’s not going ahead and who is responsible. Essentially it appears to come down to lack of funding, for whatever reason.

So after 19 years, this August in Canberra will be free of science events … other than Questacon and the CSIRO and Tidbinbilla and …

Do we need the science festival? Please share your opinion.

Why have to be a formal festival?

A date, a free website to advertise events and word of mouth worked for Earth Hour.

Bus loads of children, thousands of interstate visitors, work experience for science students, showcasing the important of science – does Canberra need this? Pretty worthwhile I think!
